KLOPP REVEALS WHY van DIJK WORE THE CAPTAIN BAND

Earlier today, Jürgen Klopp revealed why it had to be Virgil van Dijk who wore the captaincy arm band. This went a long way in clearing the air, and also provided answers to alot of questions on social media.

Kloop revealed that it was Dijk's character that tipped off the incidence and not even his(Klopp's) decision.

He also revealed that the team had a majority vote which saw van Dijk throught as the third choice after Henderson as the captain and Miller, the vice captain, while Wijnaldum holds the fourth choice place.

The Netherlands skipper wore the armband against Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday night with Jordan Henderson out injured and James Milner among the substitutes.

“I decided Hendo and Millie will stay [as captain and vice-captain] – that was the 100 per cent logical thing to do and would have been like that as well if we would have voted.

“But I said for the next two, the players can vote and now two Dutch guys are in a row; the team decided No.3 for Virgil and No.4 for Gini Wijnaldum. That was a players’ decision.”

“It probably says a lot about [his character] but it was not my decision." Klopp said.
